Ukraine will supply sunflower oil 60% of world market

According to the results of 2010, given the trend in the grain market, exports of sunflower oil from Ukraine may reach 60% of the world market, while in 2009 it was 54%. On this day during the forum “the Market oilseeds 2010 Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Yevhen Lavrov.

He recalled that in order to stimulate the production of sunflower oil in Ukraine in 1999, was introduced export duty on sunflower seeds at the rate of 23% with a subsequent decrease to 17% in 2004.

Introduction of an export duty, according to Lavrov was a factor that has reduced exports and contributed to increased production of sunflower oil in the domestic market, increase the load-fat oilseed complex, and also increased the proportion of export of sunflower oil on the world market.

However, according to Deputy Minister, today there is a serious threat to the development of this complex in connection with the WTO to abolish export duty on sunflower seeds from Ukraine. “In the process of accession to the WTO Ukraine should reduce the export duty every year by 1%. And since 16% of the conditions of accession should reach 10%. Nevertheless, the current duty rate in 2010 was 12%,” - he said.

The biggest exporter of oil is the European Union, which in turn insisted on the abolition of duties on exports of sunflower seeds from Ukraine. According to Lavrov, this will stimulate oil production in Third World nations that are bad influence on the Ukrainian production, reports UNIAN.
