Russia and the EU insurance to cover the gas war. Affected the conflict with Ukraine

Russia and the European Union in Moscow on Monday signed a memorandum of early warning mechanism in the energy sector, the agency reports the petroleum information (ANI).

With Russia’s side the document was signed by the head of the Energy Ministry Sergei Shmatko, the EU - European Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs.

Piebalgs said that Russia and the EU are making great efforts to prevent conflicts such as with Ukraine in January 2009. “We very much appreciate the efforts of Russia, so we had no interruptions to the gas and any other conflicts. Early warning mechanism emerged from bitter experience. We had to draw the appropriate conclusions”, - he said.

The commissioner added that the signing of this document will enable countries to prepare and not to transfer the technological problems in the political plane. “We will have a chance to prepare, so there was no political crisis so that issues can be resolved at the technical level”, - said Piebalgs, who was quoted by Interfax-Ukraine “.
