U.S. will not allow Ukraine to pay Crimea

The United States will defend the Ukrainian status of Crimea and Sevastopol. , Said Deputy Defense Alexander Vershbow, says Newsland.

Earlier, leader of the bloc in its own name (BYuT), Yulia Tymoshenko urges the European Union (EU) and the U.S. to pay more attention to Ukraine, rather than treating it as a “bargaining chip” in international relations with Russia.
“When Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons (the former Soviet Union), it received guarantees that its territorial integrity would be protected. I would like to believe that these safeguards remain in place” - in particular, she said.
Tymoshenko has said that President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the Russian defense minister to prepare an investment plan for the Crimea. “Now the Crimea will be developed with the assistance of Russia, it would be difficult to understand society. This creates the danger of the crisis. I stand for mutually beneficial cooperation. However, I do not imagine the loss of part of our territory or sovereignty.”
Also, Tymoshenko said that she was not extended to length of stay of the fleet in Sevastopol, noting that this region has enormous financial potential as a tourist resort. “If the choice is between the world-famous holiday destination and a military base, then I choose the first”.
